Mark Peterson
Mark Peterson, President of Midwest Sales Company, (on left) gave a presentation on possible improvements to the Kiwanis playground in Chandler Park. He said he has checked out the existing playground equipment and had some suggestions on renovations and their costs to present at this weeks meeting. Mark recommended equipment from the Burke Company in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin saying they are one of the founding members of the playground manufacturing industry.

Mark says Burke also has grant money available and they have asked him to help decide who should get the grant money in Illinois. He said he has overseen the development of many different playgrounds including improvements in Colchester and Havana. He coordinates all aspects of the playground development and says he will have a job for everyone that volunteers. "The installation can be completed with 15-20 people in about 8 hours" Mark said, adding "the ribbon can be cut 72 hours later and children can begin playing on the new equipment". Mark says he makes sure everything is safe before he leaves. One of his ideas is the Burke "Intensity System" that consists of various posts for climbing and a new slide made of hard plastic. Owen Thompson, who introduced Mark, said his committee is recommending the Intensity Fitness System be built. Mark says colors can be changed and additional items can be added including a mister or a combination water fountain and mister. • Pat Stout - Happy that Chuck Nicholson found the long lost traveling gavel that goes from club to club. It's been returned and Pat says it will start making its rounds again soon. The goal is to have the gavel at each club in the division before the end of the year in September.
