We welcomed an Interclub from Carthage that included Marilyn Walker, Marvin Boyer and Rob Dunham. They announced that Carl Sandburg College, in conjunction with the City of Carthage, are working to get a Kiwanis International designation for the old Carthage College auditorium. It is the site where the first Circle K Club was started in the 1950’s. They have extended an invitation for Macomb Kiwanis to visit and see the historical documentation they’ve uncovered.
Our club will have a table at the Prestige Communications Home and Lifestyle Show this weekend at Western Hall. The show hours are Saturday 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM and Sunday 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM. Brochures have been printed for the Kiwanis playground brick sales effort and, if you have time, please stop by our table and lend us a hand.
The Mid-winter Conference is coming up on Saturday, March 27, at the Warren County Courthouse in Monmouth. Those attending will be Debbie Vandemark, Tim Moss, Patrick and Waneen Stout.
Debbie reminded members that a first reading of the new slate of officers and directors should be by mid-April. A nominating committee was selected. The committee consists of the mandatory three past presidents: Tim Moss, Jeremy Benson and Owen Thompson along with two others from the club: Waneen Stout and past president Ted Pawlias.
It was announced that the Kiwanis District Office has selected Macomb as a new location for leadership education to be offered in July. This is the mandatory Kiwanis training for incoming officers.
Jack Elfrink won the 50/50 drawing and donated it back to the club.
A big "THANK YOU" from Rick Bulger to Debbie who took notes about this weeks meeting for him to prepare this update.
