President Debbie Vandemark presided and recapped last weeks board meeting where a number of actions were taken. Debbie reported that the board approved:
a $200 donation for Project Wee Care playground improvements.
a $400 donation to the Macomb High School band to provide a new outfit for one band member as part of their Operation Band Aid fundraiser to get all new uniforms.
participating in the Kiwanis International Skip A Meal project. We'll pass the hat at next weeks meeting and ask for for a suggested $5 donation from members. Funds will be matched by Kiwanis International and used to satisfy hunger and children in need.
In other board action, Hy Vee has requested five boxes of Kiwanis peanuts to give away during a special promotion. They will buy the peanuts and give us a donation.
For the Kiwanis "One Day of Service", we will count our Junior Olympics as our event. Junior Olympics will be Saturday, May 8, at 1PM. Setup is at Noon.
New member induction ceremony will be May 18.

Friday, April 23, we needed a reader to read books as part of our Picture Book of the Month program and Becky Almon volunteered.
Saturday, April 24, the Abingdon Kiwanis is having their Pancake Day. Debbie is putting an interclub together.
June 12 the Galesburg Kiwanis Club will host a golf tournament. 12:30 shotgun start followed by dinner. Cost is $45 per person.
June 14, the Macomb Area Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Development will be having their golf outing and we've been invited to participate and sponsor a hole.
June 22, the Chicago White Sox is teaming up again with the I-I District for the 5th annual "Kiwanis Grand Slam" for a game against the Atlanta Braves. All Kiwanis members and their families get a special deal on tickets.
Lots of happy people again this week. We received "Happy Buck$" from Becky Almon, Tim Moss, Joe Vandemark, Jack Elfrink and Debbie Vandemark.
