SPECIAL APRIL 22 UPDATE:
A very BIG thank you to everyone that came to our 61st annual Pancake Day on Thursday, April 22, at the American Legion. A special thank you to all the Kiwanis members and volunteers who worked to make it a success. We could not have done it without you! Thanks to our President Debbie Vandemark for overseeing it all and Owen Thompson for preparing the special slide show presentation that was shown inside the dining area proving that Kiwanis is making a difference for the children of our community. The Macomb Kiwanis Club appreciates all of the businesses, organizations and individuals who were our "booster sponsors." Their names were on the place mat at every table setting. Your sponsorship helps Kiwanis continue to support many different activities and programs for children.

President Debbie Vandemark presided and we welcomed Mike Chase, a guest of Ted Pawlias. Ted indicated that Mike is considering becoming a member. Great to have you with us Mike.
We passed the hat for a donation to the Kiwanis International Foundation "Skip-A-Meal" project. Kiwanis International will match all donations dollar for dollar.
The new Kiwanis directory has arrived and passed out to members.
Debbie reported on the recent Kiwanis Spastic Paralysis Bowl-A-Thon held at Abingdon. We would have come in first, however it was decided to award first place to the new Abingdon Key Club for youth team with the highest score. Our total score was 2,343. Congratulations to all the bowlers on another great job!
The first reading from the nominating committee for officers and directors for the 2010-2011 Kiwanis year will be made next week.
Upcoming dates:
* Saturday, April 24, the Abingdon Kiwanis is having their Pancake Day. Debbie is putting an inter club together.
* Kiwanis/McDonough County Junior Olympics will be Saturday, May 8, at Hanson Field. Set up is at noon for a 1:00 start and we hope to finish by 4:00. Debbie says we will have bottled water, courtesy of Hy Vee and snacks, thanks to the Salvation Army, for the participants. The new afternoon time was selected to avoid
conflicts with Little League and Soccer games and we've already received confirmation from Bushnell-Prairie City and Edison Schools.
* New member induction is May 18. Debbie has invited Lt. Gov. Nancy Clayton to participate.
* June 12 the Galesburg Kiwanis Club will host a golf tournament. 12:30 shotgun start followed by dinner. Cost is $45 per person.
* June 14, the Macomb Area Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Development will be having their golf outing and we've been invited to participate and sponsor a hole.
* June 22, the Chicago White Sox is teaming up again with the I-I District for the 5th annual "Kiwanis Grand Slam" for a game against the Atlanta Braves. All Kiwanis members and their families get a special deal on tickets.
Happy Buck$ this week from Debbie, Becky, Tim, Joe, Ted, Pat, Heidi and our guest speakers Carla Bainter and Jim Cowgill.
