She said, "it's a collection of medical information from various government agencies and outside sources."
Next week our guest will be Mike Cumbie representing the Performing Arts Society.
Voting took place on the slate of officers and directors for the 2010-2011 Kiwanis year that begins October 1. Unanimously approved on a voice vote were:
President: Pat Stout
President-elect: Waneen Stout
Co-Treasurers: Jack Ellfrink and Chris Jones
Secretary: Tim Moss
Board of Directors: Rick Bulger, Mary Haney (to replace Waneen), Ken Harp, Owen Thompson and Joe Vandemark.
Congratulations to all the new officers and directors.
President Debbie Vandemark presided and reported on several items:
The American Legion sent a letter requesting our financial support to send someone to Boys and Girls State and we had already budgeted funds for this.
Flags of Love will fly for the first time this year on Memorial Day, Monday, May 31, in Chandler Park. Kiwanis is primarily responsible on that day for putting the flags up at 6AM and taking them down at 6PM, although there are many volunteers who also help. In case of rain, a red flag on the southeast corner of the park means the flags will not be on display.
At the May 4 board meeting, the board approved supporting the READyBus literacy program and the Central Illinois Alzheimer's Memory Walk in September. Mike Chase was approved as a new member and we will be contacting the Emmet Chalmers Fire Department to see if they are still interested in buying our tables and chairs in exchange for a $1,000 donation to the club.
Treasurer Tim Moss reported we raised over $13,850 at this years Pancake Day and had expenses of just over $3,560. He said we're still expecting a couple of more checks to come in but expenses were well under last year. Money raised is donated by our club right back into the community to support activities and programs for children.
Tim also reported on the new playground brick project. We now stand at about $21,000 in gross proceeds. That includes a combination of our "seed money", brick sales and other donations. He said "we're making progress and will be contacting various individuals and businesses for the final push." We talked about having a booth in Chandler Park during Heritage Days near the site of the new playground.
New member induction has been scheduled for June 8. Becky Almon, Mike Chase and Heidi Collins will be officially inducted. Lt. Gov. Nancy Clayton will be here to help with the induction ceremony.
