Chuck Laird (on left) cruised into our meeting to talk about the Park & Cruise nights that are held around the Macomb Courthouse Square each summer.
Chuck said this is the 7th season for the Park & Cruise, sponsored by the Macomb Area Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Development Council.
About 100-150 classic cars are on display and there's live entertainment by a variety of bands. The next cruise is Friday, June 4, and will feature music by the Mercury Edition. The hours are 6-9PM.
Other dates are Friday, July 9; Saturday, August 7; and Friday, September 3.
If you're hungry, there are grilled sandwiches served and there's restaurants around the square.
Chuck thanked all the sponsors who help support the cruises. He thinks it's a benefit to businesses and helps attract people to Macomb.
Chuck also mentioned there will be Car Show at Farm King September 18.
Chuck drove to the meeting in his '79 Camaro Z28 which he displays at the Park & Cruise.
Next week will be the induction of new members. Lt. Gov. Nancy Clayton will join us.
June program chairman Rick Bulger has the following programs for members:
June 15 - Ann Collins talking about the Al Sears Jazz Festival and a special fundraising event they are having on June 19.

President Debbie Vandemark thanked everyone who came out to help with the Flags of Love on Memorial Day. The flags went up Monday morning but didn't come down until the Tuesday afternoon due to rain.
Debbie gave a Playground Brick Fundraising Update. She was interviewed on WJEQ Radio about Kiwanis and the playground brick project. She said letters have been sent home with students so parents can see what we are doing. We will also be sending out letters to businesses that have very generously supporting our projects in the past.
We had an Interclub last Thursday to Carthage. On July 1, they will have a new member induction with the Kiwanis International President participating.
Happy Bucks from Becky Almon, Tim Moss, Jay Carter, John Moon, Jack Elfrink, Debbie Vandemark and a complimentary one from guest speaker Chuck Laird.
John Moon won the 50/50 Drawing and donated her share back to the Salvation Army.
