Nick Sash

This weeks guest speaker was Franchise Consultant Nick Sash (on right) who gave a program on "Wealth Franchising 3.0" called Solving the Puzzle of Franchising.

He was introduced by his dad, Gary Sash, who said Nick has had experience in motivational speaking and also helps out in his office.

Nick said he sees his job as to help people make money and to build something you can pass on to your children.

He promoted franchises as a way to "stop renting your life and start owning your life."

Franchises have a good brand name, proven business models and are a good invesetment, according to Nick.

He says investing in a small business offers a better return on investments.

Next Week: Joe and Debbie Vandemark will talk about their trip to Israel.

Upcoming Speakers:

June 23 - Dr. Loran Erdmann - Childhood obesity
June 30 - Dr. Shana Porteen - Sociology and children

Meeting Notes

President Tim Moss presided. Following the Pledge of Allegiance and Kiwanis Pledge, Tim also gave the invocation.

Tim, Debbie and Joe Vandemark plan to participate in the Atkinson Kiwanis Club Rolle Bolle tournament June 10. We wish them all the best in representing Macomb Kiwanis.

The Macomb School Board will be honoring our club for administering the School Snack Program at an upcoming meeting and we will be sure to recognize all the other groups and businesses who participate. According to Hassan Espahbodi, they are:

Noon Rotary
Altrusa
Lions
Welsey Methodist Church
Citizens National Bank
Walmart
MidAmerica National Bank
First Bankers Trust

There will be a Board Meeting next Tuesday night, following the regular meeting.

Tim and Owen Thompson helped out with checking in the Scouts at their Day Camp this week.

Debbie said the Lincoln School library did an inventory of the books that we donate to the library and some of the books turned up missing. Debbie says "if you've got one that you accidentally took home after reading to their class, please be sure to return it."

Tim is looking for a time to clean up the griddles in preparation for next years Pancake Day.

  • Tim Moss - Happy he could enjoy a week with his son who is visiting from the east coast.
  • Debbie Vandemark - Happy her patio and fence are finally done.

The 50/50 Drawing was won by Wayne Mounts and he donated his share back to the club.

Search

Searching for the Macomb Kiwanis Club online? Sue Dexter brought to my attention that she had a difficult time in finding this club website on the search engine Google. Sue said the first thing you see is a link to our old website, followed by a link to an old news page and then there's a link to this site. I think that, over time, this new site will move up in the ranking as more and more people visit it. For your information: there are other search engines on the internet that all have this new site listed first! They are: Yahoo, MSN, Dogpile (where do they get these names?), AltaVista, Webcrawler and Ask. If you would like to check it out, just visit one of those sites and type in "Macomb Kiwanis Club" in their search box. Thanks to Sue for letting me know. We want as many people as possible to find us and see what we're doing. Rick.

Have you ever gotten stuck when trying to answer the question "what is Kiwanis?" Here's a quick 30 second response direct from Kiwanis International.

"Kiwanis International is an international organization of member-volunteers who give more than 6 million hours and more than $100 million each year to help change the world one child and one community at a time. Any community need can become a Kiwanis service project, especially if the need involves children, who should have the help and the right to lead healthy, successful lives. We believe that helping a child helps the world."
