The weather forecast called for showers and thunderstorms everyday this week, except for one. Fortunately for us, that day was Tuesday when we had an outdoor picnic in the backyard at the home of club President Tim Moss and his wife Alice. (Pictured above)
Under a partly cloudy sky, with temperatures hovering in the upper 70's, Kiwanis members enjoyed a dinner of chicken with various side dishes to wrap up this years Membership Drive.
Tim said he decided to hold the picnic at his house, because Alice wanted to show off all the improvements they had made. You can see the beautiful job she did in their backyard.
We were joined by an Interclub from Carthage that included Ada Bair, Marvin Boyer, Nancy Jameson and Marilyn Walker.
Following the dinner, Tim thanked everyone for contributing to the recently completed membership drive that resulted in two new members joining the club.
Thanks to Tim and Alice for opening up their house to us and I think we all enjoyed the change of scenery.
Next week, we'll be back at St. George's Church. The program will feature Mark Peterson of Midwest Sales Company. Mark is our playground equipment sales representative and will talk about the playground equipment that we are planning to purchase for Chandler Park. After the meeting, Tim wants to call for a vote of the membership to ratify our proposal to pursue this project. We may also have an Interclub from the Gem City Kiwanis Club of Quincy.
